Layered Chocolate Chip Cookies - Living The Gourmet



Every bite of these classic chocolate chip cookies contains rich layers of chocolate chips. The ideal combination of buttery dough, semisweet chocolate chips, and optional chopped nuts results in a delectable treat for any occasion.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts optional

Instructions:

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and creamy

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined

Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts if using

Cover the cookie dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight

Preheat the oven to 375F 190C and line baking sheets with parchment paper

Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving some space between each cookie

Bake in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely
